The Matterhorn stands alone as a pyramidal fang of rock 4,787 metres (15,000 feet) high on the boarder of Switzerland and Italy. At its foot on the Swiss side is the chic and picture perfect mountain resort of Zermatt, surround on all sides by dramatic glaciated peaks. In fact on this circular 9 day trek around the Matterhorn we see 25 of the Alps 4000 metre peaks. The paths themselves are quite remote and although we are in the thick of the Alps, we will see few other trekkers.
This is a superb trek for seeing the wilder more remote parts of the Alps.

Getting there - Zermatt is only 3 hours from Geneva Airport by private transfer or train.

Best suited to
 - Fit and experienced walkers will enjoy this trek. This is a reasonably challenging hike as some of the days are up to 8 hours long with unto 1500 metres assent and decent. There are also two simple glacier crossings but crampons are not usually needed.
